Project Overview
The (K)rash out Index (KOI) started as a lighthearted discussion about the cycles of high productivity and burnout that many people experience in today's digital world. What began as a meme evolved into a functional web application that helps users track, understand, and manage their mental states and productivity patterns.
KOI provides a simple but effective interface for users to log their mental state along a spectrum from "locked in" (highly focused and productive) to "crashed out" (experiencing burnout or mental fatigue). The app includes a mood tracker that visualizes patterns over time, an AI-powered "therapist" that offers insights based on tracked data, and anonymous sharing features that let users see they're not alone in their experiences.
While created with humor and entertainment in mind, the application has resonated with users who find value in becoming more aware of their mental patterns. The project demonstrates how even seemingly simple concepts can be transformed into meaningful tools through thoughtful design and implementation. KOI serves as an example of using technology to promote self-awareness and mental wellbeing in a lighthearted, accessible way.
